4. Our lawful bases for processing
Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases: contract, where processing is necessary to deliver services you have engaged us for; legitimate interests, to respond to enquiries, run and promote our business in a proportionate way; consent, for optional cookies and for marketing emails, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation, for tax, accounting and record-keeping requirements.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and browser storage to deliver this website securely and to remember the cookie choice you make. These are required for the site to work and operate without consent, as permitted by law.
Optional analytics and marketing technologies are switched off until you give consent through our cookie banner or preference centre. At the date of this policy, no analytics or advertising tools are installed on this website. If that changes, they will only run after you have opted in.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer, and you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary with trusted service providers acting on our instructions — for example website hosting, email, document storage, video conferencing, scheduling and accounting providers — and with our professional advisers, or where we are required to do so by law.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Enquiry correspondence is generally kept for up to two years; client engagement records for the duration of the relationship and up to six years afterwards; and financial records for at least six years, in line with UK tax requirements.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure, including access controls, encryption in transit and reputable service providers. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access your personal information; to have inaccurate information corrected; to request erasure; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, email shane@shanemcgrath.com. We will respond within one month.
